OBSERVATION AND VISITORS - We have always had an open - door policy for parents since we know many families travel to reach our studio. We do, however, limit parents to the waiting areas in each classroom. No parents are allowed on the dance floor unless approved by the teacher. All parents and siblings are asked to respect the teachers and students in the classroom. Noise is the biggest problem in our open room plan. We do ask that when your child reaches the first grade, you begin to attend class less often and by fourth grade, you allow your child to attend alone.
CLASS ATTENDANCE - Members of troupes are responsible for making up all of their missed classes. This is simple to do since we offer classes in this age group every day. You must have the commitment to attend at least one class each week. Make-up classes are available for all students.
BEHAVIOR - Running and loud talking are not allowed in the studio. Since students are here to learn, any student who misbehaves will be asked to sit out for the remainder of the class. Running and tumbling outside of instruction in class is a safety hazard.
RECITALS –Our yearly recital is in May/June. We consider this an important part of the student’s dance education. You must purchase a costume selected by the teacher. There is a recital fee that is due in March. I will not know the cost of the recital fee until the auditorium has been secured. Combo classes will have one costume and we will try to use mixable costumes for students who take several classes. Costume fees must be paid in full by November. I cannot order your child’s costume without full payment. Any costume ordered after the cutoff date will be subject to extra shipping fees. All alterations are the responsibility of the students.
DRESS CODE AND HAIR- Only dance attire will be accepted in class (leotard, tights, and appropriate shoes) . Any color of leotard and tights are acceptable for students 8 years old and younger. All students, ages 9 and up, must wear black leotards and tights. No two - piece outfits are allowed. Hair must be secured off the face. Street clothes and heavy jewelry are not allowed. Please put your child’s name on all shoes, bags, and dance clothes.
LIABILITY - Sadie's School of Dance is not and shall not be responsible for injuries sustained by students. We must have a liability waiver signed for each student. Please drop off your children no earlier than 15 min. before class and pick them up no later than 15 min. after class unless prior arrangements have been made. If your child has to wait between classes, they should bring homework or a book to read.
